Peyote "Milan makes me anxious, but I'm having fun"

"I try not to think about the rest of the lineup..." admits Willie Peyote, scrolling through the names of the other protagonists of this first edition at the Parco della Musica in Segrate . The only Italian on the program, the rapper from Turin does not hide a certain awe in front of veterans of the Anglo-American showbiz like Massive Attack , Nine Inch Nails or Smashing Pumpkins . Not to mention The Who , who on July 22 will entrust that stage with the last Italian concert of their career. He, Guglielmo Bruno, aka Willie, forty at the end of August, is expected next Thursday. "Apart from the unmanageable heat, I'm having fun" he assures. "Even if it's too early to give an opinion because at the moment we've only done a couple of concerts, including the one in Turin where I celebrated, early, my birthday".
What do you think of the live season we are experiencing?
"I've seen several shows and I have to say that, although the post-pandemic bubble has burst (when there was a great desire for live music and almost any proposal worked - ed.), it seems to me that a lot of people still go to concerts".
What did you like?
"I saw Marracash, Cremonini, Pinguini Tattici Nucleari, but also Joan Thiele, Franco 126, Dario Brunori. I liked them all a lot, even if the two most interesting live shows by artists I didn't know well were Marco Castello and La Niña".
Some stadium blockbusters are very conceptual, with a precise narrative.
"Interesting, but it's not my thing. I like concerts where there's a lot of playing and a lot of storytelling through music, maybe with a big orchestra, choirs, strings."
Gaza, Ukraine, civil rights. The microphone is a bit of a liability, or not?
"In my opinion, yes. It gives you the opportunity to reach many people and it's right to use it in a useful way. Talking about many things already in the songs, I don't do it between one song and another, because whatever topic I care about I've already addressed in music and therefore it finds space in the playlist".
The single " Giorgia nel Paese che si Meraviglia ", for example.
"Yes. At the moment ours seems to me to be a country waiting. For changes. I have the feeling that a sort of calm reigns before the storm, let's call it that. Also the result of the international political situation that keeps everyone on edge".
Every audience has its own peculiarities. And the Milanese one is no exception.
" Milan is the center of the world, but since everything revolves around here, it is also the home of the wolf. Playing in Milan has a greater impact than playing anywhere else, because the city, precisely because of these characteristics, makes you responsible, putting a good, positive, stimulating anxiety on you".
Sanremo 2026 , have you thought about it?
"The title of the song with which I returned to the competition this year, 'Grazie ma no grazie', is valid on the subject. I will watch it on television from home like the rest of the Italian people".
